Ethnomusicologist

I study the musics of northern and western Africa, with particular emphasis on the contemporary Tuareg guitar music known as ishumar, commonly branded by world music aficionados as "desert blues" or "rebel rock." However, my interests are many, and as a performer I currently study oud in UCLA's Music of the Near East Ensemble.

Here I will post comments, thoughts, and links on a variety of issues related to my interests in music, ethnomusicology, and education, as well as general updates on my professional work. I welcome your feedback.
